Alpheios builds builds free, open-source software for the study of classical languages and literatures. In this session we explore the ways students and teachers can use the Alpheios reading aids to support in- depth study of the language of any Latin or Greek text that is available online. The session starts with a review of the the traditional Alpheios features - morphological analyses, short and full definitions, inflection tables and grammars, followed by our annotation tools for translation alignment and syntactic diagramming that will serve as the basis for a variety of language learning games. Subsequently we provide an introduction to the new user and context-specific features, including word lists and Latin usage examples, and a demonstration of the ways the interface can be customized for user preferences. The session wraps up with a walk-through of how to use Alpheios with custom self-published texts in addition to standard online sources.
